At first glance Hensall may seem like a sleepy little community, but behind the pastoral life found on the tree lined streets filled with century homes lives thriving big business that operates on a global market!
Hensall District Co-Op
Hensall’s oldest business is the Hensall District Co-Op. The Co-Op is Huron County’s largest food producer providing beans and grains globally. The Co-Op is proud to be Farmer Owned.
One of Canada’s most innovative businesses is proud to call Hensall Home. Ice Culture creates one of a kind ice sculptures and ice services for customers around the globe, working in the US, Dubai, Spain, Portugal among others. They have even worked with NASA to produce sensitive ice components for the Return-to-flight program of the space shuttle.
Since the very early days of the Petty’s Brothers’ Yorkshire Packing House, Hensall has been recognized as a meat producing community. Today Metzger Fine Quality Meats operates in Hensall.
Hensall Heritage Hall Today
Today Hensall Hertiage Hall is home to the Hensall Public Library and soon to be home to Hensall’s newest, oldest theatre and event facility!
It is the hope of the Hensall Heritage Hall committee and its many supporters that following restoration the Hall will once again be a vital part of life in the community. Once restoration is completed the hall will feature such modern amenities as an elevator and comfortable portable seating that will allow for greater accessibility and multi-purpose usage.
